The theme this week at Heart 2 Heart is Throwback! I haven’t been with Close To My Heart all that long, so I couldn’t “throwback” very far. But I did love the Seaside paper from last year and I had a few scraps left in the bag, so I got to work creating some cards! I challenged myself to only use the small paper scraps and NOT cut into the few remaining large sheets I had left. Yes, I am a bit of a hoarder LOL!! Here are the results:
I started out by just laying the scraps in various patterns onto cream colored card bases, throwing in some zip strips here and there. This was actually more of a jig saw puzzle type of activity! When I found a design that looked good, I inked the edges in cocoa ink, trimmed the pieces a bit to fit and matted some of the pieces to help them stand out. Each card has either a Cocoa or Lagoon mat.
I wanted to also use up some of the leftover sticker Complements from the Seaside collection, so I added one as a focal point for each card. The ship sticker was only brown and white and I didn’t like how it looked on the colorful paper. So I grabbed my watercolor paints and water brush and added some color.
Now I challenge you to think “Throwback” and link up your projects at Heart 2 Heart for everyone to enjoy!
I’d also like to challenge everyone to bring as much love and light into your corners of the world as possible this week! Laurie
