Don’t you just LOVE a good Road Trip? That’s the challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 this week! Last spring I went on a good old fashioned road trip with a good friend. We traveled across Nebraska, through the Rockies of Colorado, south along the eastern border of Utah and finally ended up in Page, Arizona. We put in some long days of driving, but had so much fun and took LOTS of photos! So, when the Road Trip theme came up at BBTB2, I knew I had to make a layout for some of those photos.
It’s a brand new year and time for a brand new challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2! This week we are celebrating all things NEW and boy, do I have the perfect new thing in my life–a new grandson! He was born on December 29 and I spent part of my New Year’s Eve rocking with that little sweetie! It was the perfect way to ring in the New Year!
I used paper from the Whimsy Fundamentals collection by Close To My Heart to create this layout. The Cricut cuts are from several cartridges–Artbooking, Flower Market, Graphically Speaking and Phrases. I embellished with a few enamel arrows and called it good. I think I have the perfect photo already to complete this layout!
Now it’s time for you to get your craft on and create your own projects featuring something NEW! Link it up at Bitten by the Bug 2 for everyone to enjoy!
On my last post I shared a couple of cards I made with the brand new Flower Market Cricut cartridge by Close To My Heart. It is pretty amazing, I have to say! Not only do you get a cartridge loaded with 700 plus images, but you also get 3 full sized stamp sets and a 24 pack of Adventures cardstock!
Who doesn’t love a happy sunflower? This sunflower banner is one of my favorite cuts on this cartridge. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the sunflower, added some sequins and a bow from the new Rustic Home Ribbons and mounted them on a background from the Whimsy Fundamentals paper.
The flowers on this card are so pretty and after I manipulated the images a bit in Design Space, make a nice little bouquet. I added a banner with a sentiment from the Flower Market coordinated stamp set. Again, the Whimsy Fundamentals paper makes the perfect background.

This week at Bitten by the Bug 2, our challenge is to create a project with FLOWERS. Of course I immediately thought of the new Flower Market cartridge from Close To My Heart! Beautiful flowers of all kinds, dozens of different vases and “holders” for those flowers, multiple floral wreaths and amazing three dimensional flowers are just a part of the cuts included in this cartridge. Here are a couple of cards I made with Flower Market.
I just had to use this beautiful rose cut first and I love how it looks on the new Whimsy Fundamentals “love” paper. The accents of green in the leaves and sentiment and the bling really complete the look.
I also had to use the hollyhock cut right away since hollyhocks are a very nice memory from my childhood. Again, I used some of the Whimsy Fundamentals paper for the background. The new Happy Heart stamp set had the perfect sentiment for this card.
If you love flowers, then this new Flower Market is for you! Plus it has a whole bunch of other images to make it just right for everyone. Get yours HERE. Or contact me to see how you can get your own for half price!!

Let me just say that the new Thin Cuts from Close To My Heart are the BOMB!! I loved the Thin Cuts that coordinated with stamp sets from the recent Seasonal Expressions catalogs, but I REALLY love these stand alone words and shapes from the new Annual Inspirations catalog! Take a look at some quick cards I made with the Hearts and Stars Thin Cuts and our new Fundamentals paper collections.
This card was made with scraps of the Whimsy Fundamentals and the hearts were cut with CTMH glitter paper. It’s great that you have the actual heart outline and the solid “inside” of each heart that is cut. So versatile! This card is made with the Rustic Home Fundamentals paper, gold glitter paper, and some of the brand new coordinating ribbon trim. If you have been to a celebration or event recently, you know how trendy this rustic look is and the embossed wood grain paper is awesome!
