I have had these old family wedding pictures for a long time, just crying out for a new home on some beautiful My Mind’s Eye patterned papers! I cut the frame and frame shadows from the Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge and inked the edges with Ranger tea dye distress ink. I added strips of glitter paper here and there to match the glitter on the paper as well as glitter hearts at each corner of the photos. Now I need to find out the correct dates and places for each of these weddings and add that information to the journaling blocks. I think this is a much better way to display these special pictures!
A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to win a stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas during their August blog hop and stamp release. I received the Simply Moovalous set which is full of cute cow-themed phrases and images. I decided to play around with the new Tim Holtz Mini Distress Inks I purchased a couple of weeks ago, and try my hand at water coloring. I had to practice a few times before I had one I was satisfied with enough to share on this blog! It’s obvious I need a lot more practice! 🙂 Anyway, I used the Moochas Gracias sentiment, cow, and pail to create my card. I added a couple of bows made of hemp cord and stamped the base card with a background stamp which I heat embossed with some Sparkle Embossing Powder. I plan to send this card to a friend who recently stepped down as leader of a local Adventure Club for teens with Asperger’s Syndrome. My oldest son was a member of that group for many years. Terri’s husband is a farmer and they own livestock so I thought this would be an appropriate card to send her.
I have some pictures to share of an album I made for my nephew and his wife after the birth of their first child. I used an older paper pack from My Mind’s Eye called Twinkle, Twinkle Little Boy, along with a few sheets of solid color cardstock. I used the Artbooking cartridge from Close To My Heart for the pages, overlays, frames, tags, and the majority of the icons, and The First Few Years cartridge for other cuts. I followed the instructions in the manual and cut everything at 8 inches, with the Real Dial Size feature OFF. I also used the Cuttlebug embossing folders Swiss Dots, Houndstooth, and Spots & Dots, as well as twine from The Twinery. I inked the edges of the album pages with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I am really pleased with how the album turned out and I hope they like it. My nephew and his wife are going to be fantastic parents! I am looking forward to meeting my newest great-nephew!
I have several friends who are avid quilters so I was excited to see the Cardz TV “Sew Much Fun” Challenge. The challenge was to use some kind of stitching on your project. I dusted off my old sewing machine and gave it a try by adding a zig zag stitch around the perimeter of my card. I used vintage sewing themed paper from the Authentique “Original” collection for the background and coordinating papers for the punched squares. I stamped the cute sewing images from Inkadinkadoo in Tim Holtz Distress Ink Chipped Sapphire and added a navy button and cream floss. On the inside, I stamped a Close to My Heart birthday sentiment and matted it with some of the same coordinating papers. I am really pleased with the vintage, distressed look of this card and I can’t wait to give it to my friend for her birthday! Laurie
Here’s a birthday card I made using kraft cardstock and pattern paper from My Mind’s Eye My Favorite Things 6×6 pack. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut to stamp the sentiment. I cut the present at 2.5 inches using Cricut Alphabet, which was included on my Expression 2, and popped it up with dimensional adhesive. I also used the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder to emboss the polka dots on the patterned paper. I think this will make a nice card for any guy!
