Since Thin Cuts are 25% off this month at Close To My Heart, I’ve been making lots of cards with these awesome products. I shared several last week and today I’d like to show you one more. It’s super easy and I love that cute little fox!
Yesterday I shared a couple of cards I made with the “thanks” Thin Cut and today I’d like to show you another fun way to use your Thin Cuts. This time I used strips of Shimmer Trim to make a colorful and dramatic “hello” cut.
I used the whimsical Dreamin’ Big paper collection to make this card. The black mats make the colorful paper stand out even more. Black, Aqua, Gold and Red Shimmer Trim were chosen to coordinate with the colors in the paper.
I adhered layers of Shimmer Trim to a scrap of white cardstock, then positioned the Thin Cut over the strips and ran it through my Cuttlebug. The paper and Shimmer Trim were quite thick, so I had to run it back and forth several times. In the future I will put the Shimmer Trim strips on a piece of thin paper like vellum instead of cardstock.
The resulting cut is quite festive and fit nicely with the bright colors in the Dreamin’ Big paper. I’m sure I will use this technique again very soon!

I LOVE Thin Cuts! And I’m so happy they are on sale this month at Close To My Heart! That’s right, all Thin Cuts are 25% off only this month, so don’t miss out on your chance to snag a few of these awesome goodies!
I thought it would be fun to try some variations on using those fabulous Thin Cuts besides just cutting and using the images. Every time you cut, there is also a negative space cut and that’s what I concentrated on for these cards.
For this card, I used the Thin Cuts in the traditional way by cutting the “thanks” from Pomegranate cardstock and adhered it to layers of cardstock and Sugar Rush paper.
For the second card, I used the negative cut that was left over from the first card. I prepared a multicolored panel to place behind the word by coloring diagonal stripes with my Shin Han markers (see below). I then double matted the sentiment and adhered it to the card front along with some banner shapes.
There are lots of other ways you could decorate the panel behind the negative Thin Cut space. Watercolors, water color pencils, pattern paper or plain cardstock would make a nice background feature.
It’s certainly fun to play around with Thin Cuts! Tomorrow I’ll show you another way I used Thin Cuts as a colorful, dramatic feature so stop by again to check it out. If you would like to order any of the Thin Cuts and coordinating stamp sets, please SHOP HERE. Thank you very much! Laurie
This is my week to host the challenge at Heart 2 Heart–TOOL TIME! You are invited to use a Close To My Heart crafting tools to create a project. Think embossing folders, Thin Cuts, border punches and more!
I used my Cuttlebug and two different tools to create my project–embossing folders and Thin Cuts. It’s hard to see in the photo, but the blue background was embossed with the Wood Slats folder. I also used Thin Cuts to make the wreath and the word “hello”. The paper is from the Sugar Rush paper collection from Close To My Heart.
I use so many crafting tools when I head to my craft room and I bet you do too! Now it’s time to get out your own crafting tool box and create! Be sure to share with us at Heart 2 Heart. We love to see what you make!
Today I’m sharing a wedding card I made with the Thin Cut/stamp set called Hello Lovely Cardmaking Bundle from Close To My Heart. I challenged myself to only use two colors for this card–red and white. First I used the Thin Cuts and my Cuttlebug to cut out the shapes. Then I stamped the matching images in Versamark on Cranberry cardstock, sprinkled on white embossing and used my heat tool to melt the powder. This made the images quite crisp and clear on the red cardstock.
I adhered the stamped images onto a background of embossed hearts and added a red ribbon with white hearts as embellishment. I think this makes quite an elegant card for a wedding.
I’m excited to use this Hello Lovely Thin Cut/Stamp set again very soon! Check out a picture of the set below. The images outlined in blue are those with a matching Thin Cut. For more information or to purchase this awesome set, click HERE!

I am pleased to host the challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart. It’s a Black and White Tuxedo theme! I have always loved the simple elegance that a black and white color palette can give to a project and this was no exception. I created an all occasion card using the Hello Lovely Day to Day scrapbooking stamp set for the rose and leaves and the “hello” Thin Cut for my sentiment.
To embellish the Black and White Daisy cardstock card, I embossed the background panel with a vertical stripes embossing folder (now only available on Clearance), Black and White Shimmer Trim and cut the “hello” from black glitter paper.
Please take a look at the other stunning black and white projects created by the Heart 2 Heart Design team. Then join in the fun, create your own artwork and share with us! We really love to see what you all come up with!

Today I made a very non-traditional Valentine’s Day card. No reds or pinks in sight on this one! Instead I used the Rustic Home paper collection from Close To My Heart and the new Hello Lovely Cardmaking Bundle which includes stamps and coordinating Thin Cuts. This is seriously a gorgeous set of goodness that I can’t wait to play with lots more in the future!!
Isn’t that floral spray amazing? I must say that using this stamp and die set on kraft paper in Chocolate ink was not my original idea. I saw a beautiful card made by another CTMH consultant and that was my inspiration. Check out the entire Hello Lovely Cardmaking Bundle in the photo below.
This card is going in the mail today as a Valentine greeting for my husband. I haven’t seen him in in over a month now since I’ve been spending the winter in Florida helping my son and his family after their second son was born and I miss him!
Here’s wishing you a wonderful, relaxing weekend with plenty of LOVE! Laurie
