Welcome Baby Card

Posted on

There will soon be a new baby boy on my husband’s side of the family–the first great-grandson for my in-laws!  We are all looking forward to the impending arrival of this little one, due in late June or early July.  I made this sweet baby card for my niece’s baby shower last week using my Cricut Explore and Design Space.  The phrase can be found on The First Few Years Cricut cartridge and the rest of the shapes are on the Baby Steps cartridge.  I colored the stars and the Welcome Baby phrase with a clear Wink of Stella Brush pen, and filled in the cheeks and nose with a colored pencil blended with a blender pen.  I used paper from DCWV The Little Mister paper pack for the background panel.  This card came together quickly after I arranged it on Design Space.

Can hardly wait to meet this little one!

It’s a zoo around here!

Thank you for joining us today on My Cricut Craft Room’s Hanging at the Zoo Blog Hop!  If you came from  Mommiedom, you are in the right place…  If not please visit http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com to start the hop.
My project is a scrapbook page featuring my grandson sending me a big long distance smile on my birthday.  I used paper from the new Close To My Heart “Chalk It Up” collection along with coordinating cardstock in Black, Lagoon, Cranberry, Honey and White Daisy.  I used The First Few Years Cricut cartridge to make the frame for the picture and to cut the word “WILD”.  I stamped the zoo animals from the Close To My Heart stamp set called Wild Wonders (C1558) in Lagoon, Cranberry, and Honey ink and added more colors with the new Shin Han Touch Twin markers.  I love how you can cut the giraffe and lion images with the Artbooking Cricut cartridge and then stamp–no more fussy cutting!  I added letter stickers and ribbon from my stash and part of a Picture My Life card as a journal spot.  I hope my grandson’s big toothless grin will make you smile too!  Laurie

Baby Mini: A little something for the new grandma!

Posted on

Last December, I purchased a series of tutorials from Lain Ehmann at Layout A Day called “Mini Album Mayhem”.  One of the tutorials was titled “One and Done! Mini Album in an Hour” with Laura Denison, and I followed the instructions and made a little brag book for my Crafty Sister, Laurie, who is a new grandmother!  The instructions were very easy to follow, and although it took me longer than an hour, it was fairly quick to make.  I used baby boy paper from the Twinkle, Twinkle Little Boy pack from My Mind’s Eye to cover the chipboard pages and covers.  Most of the cuts are from The First Few Years and Artbooking Cricut cartridges.  I used twine from My Mind’s Eye Indie Chic collection, buttons from Stampin’Up!, and wood veneer stars from Studio Calico to embellish each flap and create a common thread that makes the album pages “connected”.  I used a stamp from the Sweet & Lovely set from Close to my Heart, which was included with the Artbooking bundle, to make a journaling spot on the back sides of the flaps.  She’s been making a few layouts of her grandson, but I want her to have something she can easily carry with her and readily show off that precious boy!

Thanks for visiting!

Artbooking Baby Mini Album

Posted on

I have some pictures to share of an album I made for my nephew and his wife after the birth of their first child.  I used an older paper pack from My Mind’s Eye called Twinkle, Twinkle Little Boy, along with a few sheets of solid color cardstock.  I used the Artbooking cartridge from Close To My Heart for the pages, overlays, frames, tags, and the majority of the icons, and The First Few Years cartridge for other cuts.  I followed the instructions in the manual and cut everything at 8 inches, with the Real Dial Size feature OFF.  I also used the Cuttlebug embossing folders Swiss Dots, Houndstooth, and Spots & Dots, as well as twine from The Twinery.  I inked the edges of the album pages with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I am really pleased with how the album turned out and I hope they like it.  My nephew and his wife are going to be fantastic parents!  I am looking forward to meeting my newest great-nephew!

I am entering this in the following challenges:  1.  Bitten By the Bug 2  Baby Challenge  2.  Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog  #195 Mix and Match challenge

Shape card for Fantabulous Cricut Challenge

Posted on

I made this boy diaper card using The First Few Years Cricut cartridge.  The paper is from an older pack from My Mind’s Eye called “Twinkle, twinkle little boy”.  I used silver Liquid Pearls to outline the safety pins and add a little dimension.  The “sweet boy” phrase is cut at 3/4 inch and popped up on foam tape.  The diaper is cut at 4 inches.  I am entering this in the FCCB Challenge #171 Shape Card.  Thank you for looking!   IMG_0542   Linda
