Simple Sympathy Cards

Posted on

Hello Friends!

Today I’m sharing some quick and easy sympathy cards.  I used the paper from last year’s National Scrapbook Month paper pack by Close To My Heart and an embossing folder I recently purchased from Joanne’s.

The stamp is from the CTMH Hello Lovely Cardmaking Bundle.  I simply stamped the image on my cards, but it would have added even more interest if I would have used the coordinating Thin Cut first and then stamped the image.  I could even have popped up the image with dimensional foam.  Hmmm…might have to make a few more of these with the Thin Cut too!

The coral paper has gold embossing so I chose to heat emboss my stamped floral image to match.  On the other card I simply chose coordinating cardstock and ink to match the Glacier print on the patterned paper.  Using Close To My Heart products makes it so very easy to find the perfect match!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I appreciate you all very much!!   Laurie

Red and White Wedding Card

Posted on

Hello Friends!

Today I’m sharing a wedding card I made with the Thin Cut/stamp set called Hello Lovely Cardmaking Bundle from Close To My Heart.  I challenged myself to only use two colors for this card–red and white.  First I used the Thin Cuts and my Cuttlebug to cut out the shapes.  Then I stamped the matching images in Versamark on Cranberry cardstock, sprinkled on white embossing and used my heat tool to melt the powder.  This made the images quite crisp and clear on the red cardstock.

I adhered the stamped images onto a background of embossed hearts and added a red ribbon with white hearts as embellishment.  I think this makes quite an elegant card for a wedding.

I’m excited to use this Hello Lovely Thin Cut/Stamp set again very soon!  Check out a picture of the set below.  The images outlined in blue are those with a matching Thin Cut.  For more information or to purchase this awesome set, click HERE!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge–Black and White

Posted on

Hello Friends!

I am pleased to host the challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart.  It’s a Black and White Tuxedo theme!  I have always loved the simple elegance that a black and white color palette can give to a project and this was no exception.  I created an all occasion card using the Hello Lovely Day to Day scrapbooking stamp set for the rose and leaves and the “hello” Thin Cut for my sentiment.

To embellish the Black and White Daisy cardstock card, I embossed the background panel with a vertical stripes embossing folder (now only available on Clearance), Black and White Shimmer Trim and cut the “hello” from black glitter paper.

Please take a look at the other stunning black and white projects created by the Heart 2 Heart Design team.  Then join in the fun, create your own artwork and share with us!  We really love to see what you all come up with!

Silver and Gold at Heart 2 Heart

Happy New Year, Friends!

Welcome back to a new year of awesome challenges at Heart 2 Heart!  For this first week in January, the challenge is to use Gold or Silver on a project.  I chose to use the Uptown Fundamentals paper pack and the January Stamp of the Month to create an elegant black and gold all occasion card.

I stamped an image from the January Stamp of the Month (see below) and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  The image is mounted on a black mat trimmed with Gold Foil tape.  I finished it off with a bow made from black and gold ribbon.

Now it’s your turn to create with Silver and Gold!  Please link up your project at Heart 2 Heart–we love to see your artwork!

Advent “Calendar” Tree

Posted on

Hello Friends!

I know that these advent calendar trees have been around for quite some time and originated from a CTMH “competitor” LOL, but I thought it would be fun to give them a try this year.  I made 26 boxes from the Artiste Cricut cartridge by Close To My Heart from a Michael’s paper pack.  I arranged them on a covered 11 inch chipboard circle with layers of 7, 6, 5, 4, and 3 boxes.  The final 26th box on top does not have a number and is for decorative purposes only.

I used a hot glue gun to assemble the tree and attach a bow at the top.  The numbers were stamped on scalloped circles and heat embossed in gold to match the paper.  Each day in December, the correct box is opened to reveal a treat!!  I’m glad I gave this project a try and so happy with how it turned out!  Now who to give it to…??

There is only ONE MORE DAY to place an online order to be eligible for the drawing for a FREE Flower Market Cricut cartridge!!  Shop HERE!!

More November Stamp of the Month Cards

Posted on

Hello Friends!

Yesterday I shared a few cards that I made with the November Stamp of the Month called New Year’s Wishes that were NOT related to New Year’s events.  While writing that blog post, I thought of another way to use the snowflake stamps on that set and here is the result.  A random stamped and heat embossed background and sentiment in non traditional holiday colors!

Since one of the latest challenges at Heart 2 Heart was to create a holiday project using non-traditional colors (no red or green), I decided to link up this card to share.  Check out their blog and the other great projects!

Take a look at the sketch above from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!  The next card I made using the November Stamp of the Month was based on this sketch so I am entering it in their challenge.  I was pretty ambivalent about the colors while I was making this card, but it turned out to be one of my favs!  Check out my previous blog post for more ideas on using the SOTM for non New Year’s creations and visit Atlantic Hearts for even more creative inspiration!

I used the gray side of the Uptown Fundamentals paper along with Slate ink, Whisper cardstock and the Slate polka dot ribbon that coordinates with the Uptown papers.  Won’t it make a great wedding or anniversary card?  Just change up the sentiment on the inside to fit your occasion!

November Stamp of the Month

Posted on

Hello Friends!

Today I’d like to showcase the November Stamp of the Month called “New Year’s Cheer.” Scroll down to see a photo of the stamp set.  Of course this stamp has many images and sentiments that are just perfect for cards and layouts relating to New Year’s events.  But I wanted to show you how this stamp is NOT just for New Year’s!  Remember you can purchase this stamp set for only $5.00 with any $50.00 Close To My Heart purchase.

First I made a birthday card with Jeepers Creepers paper.  I heat embossed some of the images with white embossing powder and added some white enamel stars.  I think it makes quite a classy and colorful card for a special birthday greeting!

Next I made a wedding card with this same New Year’s Wishes Stamp of the Month.  I used the gray side of the patterned paper in the Uptown Fundamentals collection.  Adding a sentiment stamped in Slate ink, a strip of Whisper cardstock and the coordinating Slate polka dot ribbon created a surprisingly nice monochromatic color design for my card!

Finally, I made another birthday card with this same stamp set.  I used Swan Lake paper, a Picture My Life style card from the Swan Lake paper pack and the banner stamps to create a festive birthday greeting.

I hope you can now look at the November Stamp of the Month and see that it is much more than just a New Year’s themed stamp!  I actually thought of another way to use this stamp as I was writing this post–I’ll try to make it and share tomorrow!

Until then, thanks for stopping by and make it a wonderful day!   Laurie
