I love happy occasions and one of the happiest is the birth of a new baby! My friend had a new granddaughter recently and I wanted to make a special card for her family. Then while I was at it, I decided to make a baby boy card with the same design as well! I used the Flower Market cartridge by Close To My Heart for all the Cricut cuts on this card. It’s really an amazingly versatile cartridge with images for all kinds of occasions–not just flowers! I embossed the white layer with a baby themed embossing folder that I had in my stash.
The pink gems and blue enamel dots are also from Close To My Heart. I was undecided about whether to add the ribbon and bow to the bottom of the card since that little elephant is quite cute on his own, but I’m happy now with the results. If you would like to purchase the Flower Market cartridge or any other products from Close To My Heart, please shop HERE!
I’m so happy you stopped by today! Remember to do something AWESOME today! Laurie
The new Live Beautifully paper collection that Close To My Heart created for National Scrapbooking Month is full of roses, peonies, pinks and purples. Girly paper, right? Right, except not entirely! Most of my scrapbooking is about boys and men, so I decided to see if I could come up with some more masculine layouts from this “girly” paper.
For the first layout, I used the gold embossed polka dot paper as the background. I added cuts from the Flower Market Cricut cartridge by Close To My Heart to make a layout suitable for a graduation or other accomplishment.
The second layout has the blue/green ombre as background papers with Chocolate and Lagoon cardstock accents. The colors, the Flower Market images and the touch of burlap ribbon work together to give this a masculine flair. This layout would be perfect for some travel or “outdoorsy” photos.
The final layout has a nautical feel with the cute sailboat and anchors, also from Flower Market. I used the black and white striped paper as the background and then lots of bright colors from the Adventure palette and a bit of Lagoon ribbon. I can see Father’s Day photos on this layout!
So what do you think–can Live Beautifully be used for masculine layouts too? I certainly think so and can’t wait to get some photos of my guys on these layouts!
You can get your own set of the Live Beautifully paper by ordering HERE! Thanks you very much! Laurie

This week the challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 is to use a spring flower Cricut cut. Well, I immediately thought of tulips since they are blooming in full glory in my garden right now. However, I also love daffodils, so that’s what I decided to use for my design team project. I chose cuts from Flower Market by Close To My Heart to make this cheerful Mother’s Day card.
The paper is from the Dreamin’ Big paper collection, also from Close To My Heart. I accented the papers with Juniper and Sea Glass cardstock and added a ribbon from my ribbon stash.
If you love spring flowers as much as I do, you need to stop over to Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the other design team projects! Then link up your own projects for us all to enjoy. We love it when you share!
Thanks for stopping by today! Don’t forget to stop and enjoy the beautiful spring flowers this week! Laurie
It’s Baby Week at Bitten by the Bug 2! We are celebrating all things babies from cards to layouts and everything in between. And boy, do I have a baby to share! My new grandson was born on December 29 and here is one of my first scrapbook layouts to celebrate this new little sweetie.
I used retired Georgie paper from Close To My Heart along with Peacock, Canary and Juniper cardstock. The Cricut cuts are from Wild Card, Flower Market and Artbooking. On the right side of the layout I layered the coordinating Picture My Life cards behind the photos. The journaling block is another PML card.
Be sure to check out the other design team projects at Bitten by the Bug 2. Then make your own baby project and share with us for everyone to enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by! Make this an AWESOME day! Laurie
I am so LUCKY to be hosting the challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 this week! With St. Patrick’s Day coming in a couple of weeks, I thought it would be fun to get LUCKY with our crafting projects. The challenge this week is to use the word “lucky” or symbols of LUCK (horseshoes, clovers, rabbit feet) on a project. We can all use a little reminder of the wonderful things in our lives that make us truly LUCKY or we can wish a special someone GOOD LUCK!
I made a simple scrapbook layout using a cut from Flower Market by Close To My Heart that was perfect to describe this picture of me with my two grandsons. The paper is from Hello Lovely, also by Close To My Heart. I added a few gold glitter gems and a ribbon as embellishments to let the photo and the subtle colors of these papers tell the story of this special moment.
Please stop by Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the projects created by my amazing design team sisters. You will feel so LUCKY after you’ve seen their fabulous work that I know you’ll want to create one of your own to share!
Take time to reflect on the little things in your life that make you truly LUCKY!! Laurie
At Bitten by the Bug 2 this week the challenge is to create a project using RED and WHITE. I made this simple card from Flower Market and Art Philosophy(retired) cartridges by Close To My Heart. It was really hard for me to stick to only two colors so I just had to add a splash of green for the flower’s stem.
I used two retired embossing folders which are on clearance from Close To My Heart (Diamonds and Dots) to add more interest and texture to the card and popped up several elements using dimensional foam. The white layer behind the flower is cut from glitter paper.
Please hop on over to Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the beautiful red and white projects created by my design team sisters. Then get busy making your own projects to link up for us all to enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by today! Eat lots of chocolate this week in honor of Valentine’s Day! Laurie
