It was my turn to choose the challenge for Bitten by the Bug 2 this week and as I was searching around for a bomb-diggity idea that was non-Halloween and non-Autumn related, I discovered that it is Beer and Pizza Day!! It will also soon be the birthday of my beer and pizza loving husband, so BOOM, the challenge was decided!!
I used several Cricut cartridges as I designed this birthday card in Design Space–St. Patrick’s Day (beer), Elegant Edges (background) and Phrases (speech balloon).
I used some older Simple Stories patterned paper from my stash along with Close To My Heart cardstock. On the front panel, I made a collage of lots of CTMH birthday stamps. I stamped them in tone on tone ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder to give a subtle textured finish.
I decorated the inside of the card with matching shapes as a focal point for the sentiment.
Here is the Design Space file if you would like to make this card yourself. You do need to own the cartridges I used or subscribe to Cricut Access in order to cut the files. Enjoy!!

Our challenge at Heart 2 Heart this week is to create a project with Negative Space. I decided to make a boy’s birthday card with an “all star” theme. I pulled some Close To My Heart images into Design Space and started ungrouping, slicing and regrouping until I had what I thought would work for my card.
The papers are from the Adventure paper collection. I used a retired “happy birthday” sentiment and retired white enamel stars to embellish the card.

Thanks for stopping by today! I sure hope you and your loved ones are safe from all the crazy natural disasters brewing the world. Selfishly I’m so relieved it looks like Irma will miss my son and his family in the Florida panhandle. But my prayers are certainly with all the other Floridians who are not so lucky.
Close To My Heart has created a special stamp set called Stronger Together and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross to help with ALL the recent disasters. If you would like to purchase one of these sets, you can shop HERE. Every little bit helps!!
Here are a couple of Easter cards that I recently made for a customer. I love the sweet images and beautiful colors of the Easter/Spring season. These cards were both made in Design Space using various images and paper from my stash. Enjoy!!
Here is another Valentine card that I made from a free cut recently available on Cricut Design Space. I always enjoy trying out some of their projects and this was a fun one to make! If you want to make a fancy, swirly Valentine card for someone, this is just for you. You could even add a little glitter to make it even more “blingy”LOL!
This card used all three features available with the Cricut Explore–cutting, scoring and drawing–all on one project without having to reload the mat!
I hope you are having fun looking at all the beautiful, cute and clever Valentine’s Day cards that are floating around on Pinterest and other blogs. Get some inspiration and make your own cards for a one-of-a-kind way to spread the love this week!
Today is my grandson’s third birthday! He lives near the ocean in Florida so a Pirate themed birthday card and party was perfect for him! When he was just a few months old, his nickname was Captain Finley because he sometimes used to slightly close one eye, giving us the “pirate eye”.
These are the invitations for his pirate themed birthday party that will be held next weekend. I used a bunch of different images that I found on Design Space when I searched for “pirates”. That’s just one of the many things I love about Design Space!
The following photos are of Finley’s birthday card. I made a tri fold shutter card, again with the pirate theme. The paper is from Echo Park called Pirate’s Life and the cardstock is from Close To My Heart. I love to make this type of card since it has a lot of options for embellishments and it can stand on its own for display.
What a blessing it was to witness the pure joy and excitement of a little boy turning three! I’m so lucky to be spending time with my son and his family this winter, even though I don’t have quite as much time to play with my paper!
Thanks for stopping by today! I so appreciate you!! Laurie
Halloween cards are some of my favorite cards to make even though I only send a few out to special people each year! Here are a few more that I made for some customers.
I love being able to search for images in Design Space–so much easier than searching through the multitude of individual Cricut booklets!
I also love being able to use up paper and embellishments from my well stocked stash of paper crafting supplies! I think I could craft non-stop for many years straight and not have to buy another item! Anyone with me?
Thank you very much for stopping by today! Remember to do something awesome EVERY day! Laurie
I got to help carve pumpkins the other day with my grandson! What a fun and messy time! I hadn’t carved pumpkins since I last taught Kindergarten, and that has been a few years. It’s still not my favorite thing to do, but the excitement of an almost three year old makes it special!
Here are a couple more Halloween cards that I made before my visit to Florida. Again, I used various images I found on Design Space, paper and other embellishments I found in my Halloween box and Close To My Heart paper for most of the Cricut cuts.
