This week at Bitten by the Bug 2 we are celebrating Thanksgiving–Canadian style! The Design Team was challenged to create a project using a Cricut turkey cut since this week is Thanksgiving in Canada. Well my project is not exactly a turkey cut, but I used different Cricut cuts to CREATE a turkey! I had seen these cute 3D turkeys somewhere (Pinterest or the Design Space Make it Now projects) but decided to try my hand at creating my own. I used rosette cuts from several cartridges, mainly those from Artiste by Close To My Heart and a turkey profile that I found on the Design Space subscription.
I will be offering these turkeys as one of the projects for my Fall Crafting Workshop this week. My Cricut has been VERY busy cutting and scoring all the rosettes for a couple dozen turkey projects. I think it may have been actually smoking at one point!!
Click on over to the BBTB2 website. I’m sure the Design Team can provide some inspiration for making your own Turkey projects this week. Thanksgiving in America is quickly approaching too!
Remember not to let anyone dull your sparkle! Laurie
Happy Monday and welcome to another Design Team project for the Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge–Labor Day! I hope you have been able to enjoy a wonderful long weekend! The BBTB2 challenge was to create a project related to an occupation and I chose to honor our law enforcement officers. There has been so much in the news lately about the police, both positive and negative. Today I am choosing to focus on the positive and give a shout out to these brave people who help to keep us safe!
I made a square 5.5 x 5.5 inch card to showcase my cute policeman against a background shaped like a badge. The policeman image came from Paper Dolls for Everyday and the police car was from Beep! Beep! I found a badge shape in Artistry by Close To My Heart and modified it a bit in Design Space. The “thank you” sentiment is from Artiste, also by Close To My Heart. Has this long weekend allowed you to get into your craft room? We would love you to share your work at Bitten By The Bug 2 !! I’s easy to upload your projects and you don’t need a blog to join. You can use any online photo sharing site like Scrapbook.com or Splitcoast Stampers. Let me know if I can help!
Make it a POSITIVE day today!! Laurie
Today I am sharing my Design Team project for Bitten By The Bug 2. The theme for the week is Back To School and boy, does this bring up some bittersweet feelings for me! After teaching young children for 32 years, it always feels a little strange to be working in my craft room instead of getting ready for a new school year! But fortunately those bittersweet feelings are very short lived because I LOVE RETIREMENT more!!
I chose to make a card for this challenge. I used the cute Teddy Bear Parade and Recess Cricut cartridges and designed my card in Design Space. I seriously don’t know how I accomplished anything before I started using my Explore and the Design Space software. It is so much easier now! I used bright, primary colors for my cuts and placed them on a background that was embossed with my Cuttlebug.
Please join us at Bitten By The Bug 2 by linking your school themed projects this week. We LOVE to see what everyone creates!
Remember something WONDERFUL is about to happen! Laurie
Today I am sharing a sympathy card I made to enter in the Bitten By The Bug 2 Sympathy Card Challenge. This was a pretty quick card to make. I used my Cricut Expression 2 and Cricut Craft Room to cut out the leafy overlay from the Storybook cartridge. Next, I made the layered tag using the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge and a Hero Arts stamp for the sentiment. I used Recollections Clear Bark Embossing powder and VersaMark to heat emboss the sentiment. The paper is from an Authentique collection.
Hope you have time to craft today!
My husband asked me to create a card for a fellow firefighter who recently retired from the Fire Department. I used the Independence Day Cricut cartridge to make the fire truck. I added “T1” to the side to represent the truck company the retiree worked on, and added clear Stickles to make it sparkle. I also outlined the truck with a glitter pen to give it some definition. The blue, red and silver overlay was made with the CTMH Artbooking cartridge. I used Cricut Craft Room to Hide Contour on the red and blue overlays, and added a rectangular piece of silver paper to the back. For help with CCR and Hide Contour watch this video on YouTube by Joy Tracey of Obsessed With Scrapbooking. The Congrats sentiment was stamped on a banner cut from the Small Talk Frames & Tags Cricut cartridge. I added foam dimensional tape to the banner and the fire truck.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Thanks for looking!
I made a clean and simple Back To School layout this week to enter in the Bitten By The Bug 2 Apple for the Teacher-Back to School Apple Challenge. The lined notebook page background paper is from the Teresa Collins Celebrate: Happy Birthday collection which I’ve had for a while. The apple and the “Back to School” title were made with the Celebrate with Flourish Cricut cartridge, using cardstock purchased from Michael’s. I added some Recollections wood veneer shapes and Spare Parts (Paper Studio) epoxy brads to finish off the layout. I offset the photo mats to keep the notebook paper margin clear so it would look more like a page in a school binder.
