Happy Birthday, Dear Finley!!

Hello, Friends!

I’m continuing the BIRTHDAY theme today by sharing a couple of things I made for my grandson’s fourth birthday!  It can’t be possible that he is already 4 years old, but those thoughts can be saved for another time.  Let’s get on with the crafting!

My very creative daughter-in-law planned a fishing themed party and I offered to make the invitations.  She found an image from Pinterest that I used as my inspiration, but unfortunately I don’t know who to credit for the original idea.  They were a little labor intensive, but turned out awfully cute, I think!

I then made a cute fishing themed card my grandson.  I designed the card in Design Space using several cartridges including Teddy Bear Parade, Outdoor Man and A Child’s Year.  The sentiment on the inside says, “You are the Catch of the Day”!

I’m so glad I could help with the birthday celebrations, but a little sad that I couldn’t be there in person.  I think I may need to schedule a trip to sunny Florida very soon!!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!   Laurie

Fairies All Around!

Hello Friends!

Did you know there is a National Tooth Fairy Day?  Well, that’s why the challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 this week is to use a FAIRY Cricut cut on a project.  What’s not to love about fairies?  I made an all occasion card with a fairy cut from A Child’s Year.  The frame is from Cindy Loo and the background paper is from Simple Stories.  I used the new metallic paper from Close To My Heart to cut the fairy and the swirl on the frame.  It cut just as nicely as any of the other CTMH papers and cardstock!

Check out the other FAIRY projects at Bitten by the Bug 2.  You will be sure to find some inspiration for your own fairy projects!  Then link up those projects for everyone to enjoy!

Have an awesome day!  I’ll be watching the sky today–excited for the eclipse!   Laurie

Sweet Summer Goodies!

Hello Friends!

I LOVE ice cream!  I mean I REALLY love ice cream!!  And that fits right in with the challenge this week at Bitten by the Bug 2–Sweet Summer Treats.  Ice cream really is the perfect summer treat (even though I do eat it all through the year), so I decided to make a card honoring this favorite of mine!

I used some of the last paper from a summer themed pack from Authentique, another of my favorites. The Cricut cuts are from Sweet Treats (ice cream cones), A Child’s Year (font) and Bits and Pieces (banner).  The solid cardstock is Close To My Heart and I did heavy edging with CTMH Chocolate ink.  The inside sentiment says “more than ice cream”.  Please head on over to Bitten by the Bug 2 to find out what other Sweet Summer Treats are featured in the projects of my design team sisters.  You’ll be sure to find something to make your mouth water!  Then link up your own artwork for everyone to enjoy–we love it when you share!

Life is short so you should ALL eat ice cream today!  I know I will.   Laurie

Summer Nights at BBTB2

Hello Friends!

Do you live where there are fireflies?  Well, they are prolific here in Nebraska and it just doesn’t seem like summer until we see their twinkly lights once more!  Unfortunately, there are no fireflies where my grandchildren live, but I can’t wait until they visit in the summer and participate in a traditional lightning bug hunt.  And I will be prepared with this layout!

The challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 this week is Summer Nights–use a Cricut cut of stars, campfires, fireflies or anything you associate with a hot summer night.

The background paper is from a retired Close To My Heart collection called Florence.  The Cricut cuts are from Summer Love, Simple Pop Up Cards and A Child’s Year (font).  I took a firefly from the pop up card, attached it to a hexagon and then “sliced”.  After placing a yellow layer behind the firefly hexagon, voila! a nice embellishment that I duplicated for the border along the edge of the page.  Love Design Space!!

Pop over to Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the Summer Night projects by my design team sisters.  Then get out your Cricuts and create your own Summer Nights artwork to link up for everyone to enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by today!   Laurie

Bitten By The Bug 2 is having a challenge for Ice Cream month!  I made this card using A Child’s Year Cricut cartridge and paper from Echo Park, Everyday Eclectic.  I altered the ice cream cone and made layers in the Cricut Craft Room.  I added adhesive pearls for colorful candies in the ice cream cone and Stickles for the cherry on top.  It can be a birthday card or a friendship card.  Thanks for looking!   Linda
