This week at Bitten by the Bug 2 the challenge is to create a project with a travel theme. On the surface my Russian nesting doll project does not appear to be travel related, but when you hear the story behind it, I’m sure you will understand!
I made a thank you card using the nesting doll cut from the Crazy Cute Cards cartridge on Design Space. I used Close To My Heart cardstock since I can always be sure it will cut well on my Cricut, especially the more intricate designs on these dolls. Now stay with me for a bit–the travel connection is coming!
The above photo shows all the nesting dolls out of their paper pockets. The following pictures show the card when it is assembled and how the smaller dolls fit into the pockets to resemble a real Russian nesting doll.
Now for the travel connection… Some friends of ours, Steve and Ann Teget, were in Europe this summer and one of the souveniers they brought back was a Russian nesting doll. They have a travel blog and Facebook page called Postcard Jar. You should definitely check it out! When they returned from their trip, they held a Facebook Live event to talk about their trip and the nesting dolls were a prize they gave away to one of their listeners. My husband and I were the lucky winners all because of LINGONBERRIES! But that’s a story for another day!!
Here are pictures of the real Russian nesting dolls which were the inspiration for my card project. Enjoy!!
Now stop over to Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the other Design Team members’ travel themed projects. Then link up you own projects to share the fun! And be sure to visit the Postcard Jar blog for some travel fun!
