Flowers, Flowers, Flowers at BBTB2!

Hello Friends!

Summer is the time for flowers and that’s what the theme at Bitten by the Bug 2 is about this week–FLOWERS!  I decided to go simple and make some floral Sympathy cards.  The flower cuts are from Flower Market by Close To My Heart.  I used a woodgrain embossing folder on the white background and popped up the flowers to add some texture and interest.

To create the layered ovals for the sentiment panel, I used a set of nesting dies that I had in my stash.  The sentiment is from a retired Close To My Heart stamp set that I use all the time.  Some stamps are just too great to ever give away or sell and this is one of those for me!

Please head over to Bitten by the Bug 2 to see all the beautiful flower projects created by my talented design team sisters!  You will be sure to find some inspiration.  Then link up your projects there to share with everyone.

Summer Water Fun at BBTB2!

Posted on

Hello Friends!

I’m so happy to host the challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 this week!  I chose the theme Summer Water Fun for you all to play with this week.  Of course, your first thought might be the beach or pool, but what about sprinklers, slip and slides, surfing, boating, fishing, water skiing, water balloons, kayaks, cruise ships and so much more?  And if you live in hot, dry, rural Nebraska, your main water fun might involve irrigation pipes or pivots!

I chose to document the first time my new grandson went swimming in the family’s backyard pool.  I saw a similar project on Pinterest where the waves were rows of torn paper, but I decided the Cricut could do the work for me.  The wave cuts are from Crocs Rule and the title is from When I Was a Kid.  All the cardstock is from Close To My Heart and the stamped images are also from CTMH.  This little guy is certainly “born to swim”!!

Please take a minute to stop over to Bitten by the Bug 2.  There are some wonderful design team projects related to Summer Water Fun that you won’t want to miss!  Then link up your own projects for everyone to enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope your week is off to a great start!    Laurie

Going 3D at Bitten by the Bug 2!

Hello Friends!

This week at Bitten by the Bug 2 the challenge is to make a 3-D project.  I have several Cricut carts with three dimensional shapes, but I thought I would look around on Design Space to find something new to me.  When I found this explosion box from the Mini Albums cartridge, I knew this would be perfect for my project.  Explosion boxes have been around for a long time, but I had never made one yet!

The paper and dimensional stickers all came from my considerable crafting stash.  I made a second 3-D item to decorate the top of the explosion box.  This Happy Birthday cut is from the Pretty Packages cartridge and I think I need to investigate this one more!

Please stop over to Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the other design team projects.  Then link up your own 3-D Cricut projects for everyone to admire!  We love it when you share!

Have a wonderful week!   Laurie

In Stitches at Heart 2 Heart!

Posted on

Hello Friends!

The challenge at Heart 2 Heart this week is In Stitches.  Instead of faux stitching or making a layout about being “in stitches”, I decided to take it literally and add some real hand sewing to my project.

I used paper and ribbon from Rustic Home Fundamentals along with Sea Glass cardstock.  The stitching pattern is from the Stitch Guide by Close To My Heart.  I grabbed some old floss and away I went, needle in hand with a vague memory of embroidery from earlier days.  While it’s nowhere near perfect, I think it fits with the shabby chic style of the card!

I added sentiments to make this appropriate for a sympathy card, but it could certainly work for any occasion.  I’m not sure I’ll do a lot of hand stitching in the future since it takes quite a bit of time, but it was fun to try!

Please stop over to Heart 2 Heart and check out the other design team members’ artwork. You will certainly find some great ideas for adding all kinds of stitching to your projects.  Then link them up at H2H for everyone to enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by!  Remember to do something AWESOME today!   Laurie
