This week’s Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge is Birthday Bash. I made a masculine birthday card using the Southwest Cricut cartridge for my design team project. But I also made a second card that I want to share with you today.
This card was made with older paper from Authentique, my second favorite paper company besides Close To My Heart, of course! The Cricut cut is from Birthday Bash.
I love the simplicity of this design and the colors are perfect for a guy! I added a diagonal strip of various textiles as the only embellishment and DONE!
Thanks for stopping by today! I appreciate every one of you! Laurie
We are celebrating birthdays at Bitten by the Bug 2 this week! With a husband, two sons and two grandsons, I am always needing masculine themed birthday cards. So I took advantage of this birthday theme to create a few.
This card is made from Simple Stories paper and Close To My Heart cardstock. The Cricut cut is from the Southwest cartridge. I really love how the colors are bright and cheerful, yet it still looks “grungy” and perfect for a guy!

This is my week to host the challenge at Heart 2 Heart–TOOL TIME! You are invited to use a Close To My Heart crafting tools to create a project. Think embossing folders, Thin Cuts, border punches and more!
I used my Cuttlebug and two different tools to create my project–embossing folders and Thin Cuts. It’s hard to see in the photo, but the blue background was embossed with the Wood Slats folder. I also used Thin Cuts to make the wreath and the word “hello”. The paper is from the Sugar Rush paper collection from Close To My Heart.
I use so many crafting tools when I head to my craft room and I bet you do too! Now it’s time to get out your own crafting tool box and create! Be sure to share with us at Heart 2 Heart. We love to see what you make!
I am so LUCKY to be hosting the challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 this week! With St. Patrick’s Day coming in a couple of weeks, I thought it would be fun to get LUCKY with our crafting projects. The challenge this week is to use the word “lucky” or symbols of LUCK (horseshoes, clovers, rabbit feet) on a project. We can all use a little reminder of the wonderful things in our lives that make us truly LUCKY or we can wish a special someone GOOD LUCK!
I made a simple scrapbook layout using a cut from Flower Market by Close To My Heart that was perfect to describe this picture of me with my two grandsons. The paper is from Hello Lovely, also by Close To My Heart. I added a few gold glitter gems and a ribbon as embellishments to let the photo and the subtle colors of these papers tell the story of this special moment.
Please stop by Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the projects created by my amazing design team sisters. You will feel so LUCKY after you’ve seen their fabulous work that I know you’ll want to create one of your own to share!
Take time to reflect on the little things in your life that make you truly LUCKY!! Laurie
This week at Bitten by the Bug 2, the challenge is to use three different shades of GREEN! My project is home décor that will be framed and hung in my three year old grandson’s bedroom. His walls are aqua, so my shades of green have a hint of blue. I used Sea Glass, Lagoon and Peacock cardstock from Close To My Heart.
I was so excited to find this cut on Design Space from Intricate Cut Quotes since it’s the words to the song “Skidamarinky Dinky Dink” that I have sung to my oldest grandson since he was an infant. In fact, the other day this song came up on a children’s CD that was playing in the background at daycare and he immediately said, “Hey, that’s Grandma’s song!” Made my heart melt!
When cutting this intricate cut, I was again reminded of how amazing Close To My Heart cardstock is for use with the Cricut. The first time I cut the top layer, I used cardstock that I got from a craft store. I liked the color just a little better than the Lagoon, so I gave it a try. But the cuts were not clean and I would have had to spend a bunch of time trimming and clipping to make it look decent. So I threw it away and reached for the CTMH paper which cut perfectly!! Lesson learned–again!!
Please stop over to Bitten by the Bug 2 and check out the other design team projects using shades of GREEN. Then “think green” yourself and share your projects with us–we always love to see what you create!
The Heart 2 Heart challenge this week is Mix and Match! We were asked to design a project using papers from different paper collections. I chose to use Hello Lovely and Uptown Fundamentals for these beautiful beach photos of my son and his family right before their second son was born.
I love how the gold foil striped paper from Uptown Fundamentals adds a little bling and elegance to the subtle colors of the Hello Lovely papers. Plus the Sea Glass print perfectly matched the color of the ocean in the photos!
Please head over to Heart 2 Heart Challenges to see the Mix and Match projects made the rest of the Ruby Design Team. Then be sure to share your own artwork for everyone to enjoy!
Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you all have an awesome week! Laurie
Today I’m sharing a wedding card I made with the Thin Cut/stamp set called Hello Lovely Cardmaking Bundle from Close To My Heart. I challenged myself to only use two colors for this card–red and white. First I used the Thin Cuts and my Cuttlebug to cut out the shapes. Then I stamped the matching images in Versamark on Cranberry cardstock, sprinkled on white embossing and used my heat tool to melt the powder. This made the images quite crisp and clear on the red cardstock.
I adhered the stamped images onto a background of embossed hearts and added a red ribbon with white hearts as embellishment. I think this makes quite an elegant card for a wedding.
I’m excited to use this Hello Lovely Thin Cut/Stamp set again very soon! Check out a picture of the set below. The images outlined in blue are those with a matching Thin Cut. For more information or to purchase this awesome set, click HERE!
