This is Laurie and I am very excited to be making the first real post on our Crafty Sisters Creations blog! I wanted to share some Father’s Day cards I worked on this weekend. I made several of each design and plan to use them for family members and to sell at a local flower and gift shop.
This is a simple card using papers from the Authentique “Original” collection. One of the papers has a whole bunch of denim looking “pockets” that I thought would be great to hold a gift card. I cut a slit in the top of the pocket and then layered it on brown and white cardstock, popped it up with foam squares, added some brads at each corner and used mini letters to say “BEST DAD”.
Here is a closer side view. On the inside, I stamped “Happy Father’s Day on white cardstock and layered it on some coordinating patterned paper.
The second card I made came from a free cut on Cricut Craft Room and I made it into a 5 1/2 inch square card. I was very happy with how cleanly the intricate black shadow outline cut on my Expression 2! I used patterned paper from the K&Company “Happy Trails” paper pad. I wanted the illusion of a sunset behind the fishermen and of course a water look for the rest. I glued strips of those papers behind the cutout image and then put another square of black over the strips inside the card to hide them and provide more stability.
For the inside of this card, I used a cut from the Father’s Day Cricut cartridge using the same papers as I used on the front. Whew, making this first post wasn’t as difficult as I thought!
