Cricut Explore and Quilting???

Hello, Friends!  TGIF!

A few weeks ago my friend Patty, who is an avid quilter, asked me about cutting fabric with my Cricut Explore.  I was more than happy to give it a try!  She has been teaching quilting to two sisters who are working on a sports themed quilt for their little brother.  I own many sports related Cricut cartridges since I spent a fair amount of time in my life sitting on bleachers watching my two sons participate in all kinds of sports!  We found some simple images that could be cut with the Cricut, fused to the quilt blocks and then appliqued.  What fun to try something new with the amazing Cricut Explore!  And even more fun to watch these lovely young girls working so hard on their project!

Kathia and Sophia were just the sweetest girls!  After ironing on a fabric stabilizer and applying the fabric to a sticky mat, all I had to do was set the dial to “Fabric” and push CUT.  It did a pretty good job on most of the cuts.  It had a little trouble cutting more intricate cuts on thinner fabric, but I’m sure the problem was user, not machine related!

So far I’ve used my Explore for all kinds of paper, vinyl and now fabric.  I’m anxious to try cuts on some other materials too, and will let you know how it works!

Have a great day!   Laurie
