Today I’m sharing another Advent “Calendar” Tree that I made with the City Sidewalks paper from Close To My Heart. This one is for my grandson and inside each box is a mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, a candy he discovered at Halloween this year and LOVED!
This project did not originate with me! I actually think it came from a “competitor” a few years ago, but I had fun giving it a try this year. I used a box cut from the Artiste cartridge by Close To My Heart to make 26 cubes that each measure about 1.5 inches in height. The actual height of the cut is 5 inches if you use an Expression. Here is the Design Space cut file if you have an Explore:
When assembling the tree, begin with a layer of 7 cubes. I attached them to a 9 inch circle base with my hot glue gun. The next layers are 6, 5, 4, 3 and 1 cubes, all attached with hot glue. The top cube does not have a number and is only decorative. I punched out 1 inch circles and stamped the numbers 1-25 on each circle, then attached them to the front of each cube. Make a pretty triple bow for the top of the tree and then arrange ribbon strands to hang from the top. That’s it!!
