I’m so happy to host the challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 this week! I chose the theme Summer Water Fun for you all to play with this week. Of course, your first thought might be the beach or pool, but what about sprinklers, slip and slides, surfing, boating, fishing, water skiing, water balloons, kayaks, cruise ships and so much more? And if you live in hot, dry, rural Nebraska, your main water fun might involve irrigation pipes or pivots!
I chose to document the first time my new grandson went swimming in the family’s backyard pool. I saw a similar project on Pinterest where the waves were rows of torn paper, but I decided the Cricut could do the work for me. The wave cuts are from Crocs Rule and the title is from When I Was a Kid. All the cardstock is from Close To My Heart and the stamped images are also from CTMH. This little guy is certainly “born to swim”!!
Please take a minute to stop over to Bitten by the Bug 2. There are some wonderful design team projects related to Summer Water Fun that you won’t want to miss! Then link up your own projects for everyone to enjoy!

Do you live where there are fireflies? Well, they are prolific here in Nebraska and it just doesn’t seem like summer until we see their twinkly lights once more! Unfortunately, there are no fireflies where my grandchildren live, but I can’t wait until they visit in the summer and participate in a traditional lightning bug hunt. And I will be prepared with this layout!
The challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 this week is Summer Nights–use a Cricut cut of stars, campfires, fireflies or anything you associate with a hot summer night.
The background paper is from a retired Close To My Heart collection called Florence. The Cricut cuts are from Summer Love, Simple Pop Up Cards and A Child’s Year (font). I took a firefly from the pop up card, attached it to a hexagon and then “sliced”. After placing a yellow layer behind the firefly hexagon, voila! a nice embellishment that I duplicated for the border along the edge of the page. Love Design Space!!
Pop over to Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the Summer Night projects by my design team sisters. Then get out your Cricuts and create your own Summer Nights artwork to link up for everyone to enjoy!
Today I’m excited to share my June Layout Workshop using the fabulous No Worries paper collection by Close To My Heart! This paper has me smitten! It’s just perfect for all your beach, cruise or family vacation photos, but is certainly not limited to those events. I can see using No Worries for Father’s Day or other masculine photos too.
These layouts were created with the No Worries Workshop Your Way kit. This kit includes a No Worries paper pack, Complements, sequins, burlap ribbon and 4 pieces of White Daisy cardstock. If you purchase this kit for $26.95 from my online shopping site, I will send you photos and directions to make these 3 layouts.
You can also attend a workshop in my home on Friday evening, June 23 or Saturday afternoon, June 24 to create these layouts or I can mail you a kit so you can assemble them at home. Cost will be $30.00 (postage extra). Let me know how I can help! Laurie
The challenge this week at Bitten by the Bug 2 is SUMMER! It’s June and the hot weather has arrived, at least here in Nebraska, so time to start thinking about summer activities. And nothing says summer like a day at the beach with a cute little boy who is quite the beach bum!
I used Cricut cuts from several cartridges–Photo Fun (sun overlay), April Showers (word “sunshine”) and Pack Your Bags (sun with a face). The paper is from a summer themed collection by Authentique. I just love the feel of pure joy and excitement in these photos of my grandson! If only that feeling could be bottled up and shared…
Please top over at Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the other design team projects which celebrate SUMMER. Then we’d love to have you link up your own summer projects for all of us to enjoy!
Hope it feels like you are “walking on sunshine” today! Laurie
