Today I’d like to share an Accordion Box Album that I made for a friend. In the past I made baby themed albums like this with one pocket to hold pictures and memorabilia from each of the first 12 months of a new baby’s life. This album, however is school themed and the mother wants to use it to hold pictures and journaling for each year of school from kindergarten to 12th grade.
I used school themed paper from Simple Stories to create this accordion album. The assembly directions for this project were purchased from an Etsy store called Paper Hoarder Disorders. These are a bit labor intensive, but I think they make a pretty impressive project when done!
Don’t let anyone ever dull your sparkle! Laurie
I am having a wonderful time in Orlando at the Close To My Heart Convention! Check out the 2 Crafty Sisters Creations Facebook page to see some pictures–so much fun and information my head is spinning!!
It is customary to make some kind of gift for your roommates at Convention and I’d like to share some pictures of the accordion mini albums I made for my roomies.
These albums are just a little bigger than 4 x 6 inches so will easily hold photos of that size. I used Calypso paper for the first album shown and Regatta paper for the second.
I ran across a You Tube video by Melissa Merritt showing this album and luckily she shared the directions on her blog, Web of Creativity. Check it out if you like mini albums because she has made so many awesome projects and her videos are even better!
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Laurie
What a week this has been! For a “retired” person, I am awfully busy! Between Book Club, Bridge Club, school visits to observe student teachers, a special paper crafting workshop to plan and several orders for Mother’s Day and Graduation cards, I haven’t had much down time. The good thing is I LOVE it all!
Today I’d like to share the projects we made at the Workshop I was hired to teach for a group of 12 women this week. It was a bit challenging to plan the projects since the participants ranged from novice to more experienced crafters. It was fun to meet new people and share my paper crafting passion!
The first card is a Z fold card made with Sangria paper, Poppy, Saffron, Eggplant and Champagne cardstock, all from Close To My Heart.
The next card uses retired White Pines paper along with Lagoon and Cranberry cardstock. The ladies could choose from several different sentiments to personalize this card for their own needs. This card has a pleated “drapery” fold technique that I found a tutorial for on Pinterest.
The final card is made with retired Nevermore paper with Cranberry and Slate cardstock. Again the participants were able to stamp different sentiments on their cards for Father’s Day or Birthdays or Thank Yous. I stamped a diagonal stripe from a CTMH background stamp as an accent and added some Round Durable metal stickers.
We also made a One Sheet Wonder mini album. The women were able to choose their own colors and style of albums. They picked coordinating Picture My Life cards and matching cardstock to decorate and personalize their albums.
I really enjoyed prepping for this Workshop and “coaching” the women as they worked. They all seemed to enjoy themselves and went home with some great projects!
Have a wonderful weekend! Laurie
A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to host several wonderful girls for a mini paper crafting workshop. We decorated the My Creations Mini Folio by Close To My Heart. We used the Sangria paper collection and the coordinating cardstock colors of Poppy, Eggplant, Pomegranate, and Saffron. I based my album design from ideas shared by fellow CTMH consultant Michelle Snyder.
The girls decorated their folios with purple shimmer trim, sticker letters for their names, and assorted bling because, of course, girls love their bling!! I hope they have fun choosing photos and other memorabilia to add to their albums. And I hope that I can work with those charming young ladies again soon!
Take a moment today to be grateful! Laurie
Earlier I shared some of the cards that I made to take to the Close To My Heart Convention for the card swap. Another tradition at Convention is to make a gift for your room mates. Naomi Smith, one of my up lines, created a pattern for a one sheet wonder mini album and that is what I made for each of my room mates. The first album was made with the Chalk It Up paper pack.
The next album was made with Brushed paper.
The last album features retired Hopscotch paper.
These albums were easy and fun to make and can be varied by changing up the embellishments, stamped sentiments and paper packs. I think these would be perfect little albums to keep in your purse to commemorate a special event or pictures of your family! Watch for more info about these albums soon–I think I see a workshop opportunity in the near future!
Make it a great day! Laurie
I just love making mini albums! It’s so easy with my Cricut and the Close To My Heart Artbooking cartridge. This one was made for a customer, but if you are interested in purchasing an album I will gladly make one for you! Just send me a message with your style preferences and I’ll get started on it right away. Albums prices range from $15-$25 depending on the number of pages. The one pictured has eight pages, 3 envelopes, and can hold several pictures and keepsakes.
If you are not in the market for a baby mini album, perhaps you’d like one with a different theme, such as summer, travel, love, or friendship. A mini album would make a great gift!
Have a fantastic week!
