Happy New Year, Friends!
Welcome back to a new year of awesome challenges at Heart 2 Heart! For this first week in January, the challenge is to use Gold or Silver on a project. I chose to use the Uptown Fundamentals paper pack and the January Stamp of the Month to create an elegant black and gold all occasion card.
I stamped an image from the January Stamp of the Month (see below) and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. The image is mounted on a black mat trimmed with Gold Foil tape. I finished it off with a bow made from black and gold ribbon.
Now it’s your turn to create with Silver and Gold! Please link up your project at Heart 2 Heart–we love to see your artwork!
This week will be the final Heart 2 Heart Challenge of 2016! The design team will be taking a few weeks off for the holidays, but we will be back first thing in January! This week we were asked to create a project using the beautiful Oh Deer paper pack. I have to say this has been one of the best paper packs to work with! The muted colors and nature themed designs are so appealing to me.
I cut 1.5 inches from the front edge of the card and stamped the pine boughs and cones to make a border that shows when the card is closed. I used several Close To My Heart stamp sets for this card: Perfectly Pine (A1191), Merry and Bright (A1155), Swirling Stars (M1146), Woodland Wishes (D1696) and Very Merry (D1694). The ink colors are Fern, New England Ivy, Desert Sand and Cocoa. Shop HERE to purchase any of these awesome products.

Have a wonderful week and eat an extra Christmas cookie or two! Laurie
This week at Heart 2 Heart Challenges we are celebrating City Sidewalks, the bright and whimsical holiday paper collection from Close To My Heart! I chose to make a center step card with Cricut images from the coordinating City Sidewalks Cricut collection. These two products go so well together that making this card was just a snap!
I used Willow and Cranberry cardstock which matches perfectly as an accent with the City Sidewalks design paper. To add a bit of pizzazz, I layered red glitter paper behind the Fa La La’s and then added red and green Stickles to each of the light bulbs. I think it made quite a festive card for someone on my Christmas card list!
Please check out the other City Sidewalks projects created by the Heart 2 Heart design team and then link up your own projects for everyone to enjoy. This paper just makes me smile!
Don’t forget about my special gift to one lucky person who places an order on my shopping site in November–a FREE Flower Market Cricut cartridge! Shop HERE for your chance to win!! Laurie
Yesterday I shared a few cards that I made with the November Stamp of the Month called New Year’s Wishes that were NOT related to New Year’s events. While writing that blog post, I thought of another way to use the snowflake stamps on that set and here is the result. A random stamped and heat embossed background and sentiment in non traditional holiday colors!
Since one of the latest challenges at Heart 2 Heart was to create a holiday project using non-traditional colors (no red or green), I decided to link up this card to share. Check out their blog and the other great projects!
Take a look at the sketch above from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge! The next card I made using the November Stamp of the Month was based on this sketch so I am entering it in their challenge. I was pretty ambivalent about the colors while I was making this card, but it turned out to be one of my favs! Check out my previous blog post for more ideas on using the SOTM for non New Year’s creations and visit Atlantic Hearts for even more creative inspiration!
I used the gray side of the Uptown Fundamentals paper along with Slate ink, Whisper cardstock and the Slate polka dot ribbon that coordinates with the Uptown papers. Won’t it make a great wedding or anniversary card? Just change up the sentiment on the inside to fit your occasion!

This week at Heart 2 Heart we are getting our “Kraft” on! The challenge this week is to use kraft paper on your project. I really love the look of kraft paper paired with shiny gold–that “shabby chic” style is a favorite of mine–so I used that combination in my thank you card.
I used the polka dot kraft paper and gold striped vellum from the Rustic Home Fundamentals paper collection from Close To My Heart. The Wreath Thin Cut is a brand new product that coordinates with the Wreath stamp in the Annual Inspirations catalog. I heat embossed the wreath in gold, of course! I’m really becoming a great fan of these Thin Cuts! I also used one for the word “thanks” at the bottom of the card.
Please check out the other Design Team projects at Heart 2 Heart Challenges. We really got our “kraft” on this week and we’d love to see your kraft projects too! Link them up so we can all get some more inspiration!
Have an awesome week and be GRATEFUL for all the little things each day! Laurie
I am happy to be hosting the challenge over at Heart 2 Heart this week! The theme for the challenge is CHANGE. That could mean changes in the seasons, changes in our lives, or changes in how our children grow each year. It could also be as simple as the change from a pumpkin to a jack-o-lantern! My project documents two changes–the transformation of a plain foam pumpkin to Halloween décor and the changes in my grandson since I last saw him in May.
I took quite a few pictures of our crafting sessions–too many to nicely fit on a one page layout. So I decided to try out the new CTMH Pocket Plus Memory Protectors. You simply slip your pictures into the sleeves, then add them to your albums. Easy as pumpkin pie! In this layout I was able to add four more photos and still have a nice, clean and simple page.
I used paper from the collection along with the coordinating black glitter Complements. The embellishments and title block were cut from various Close To My Heart cartridges.
Please stop over to Heart 2 Heart to see the other design team projects all about CHANGES. Then link up your own artwork so we can all enjoy!
Happy Halloween! Laurie
