Sketch Challenge at Heart 2 Heart!

Posted on

Hello Friends!

It’s Monday and time for another challenge at Heart 2 Heart!  This week is a sketch challenge and it’s a fun one!  The sketch is very clean and simple and right away I thought about one of the brand new Close To My Heart products to create my card.

I used one of the papers from the new Whimsy Fundamentals collection as the background of my card and created the diagonal line in the sketch by making a row of roses from the Beautiful You Stamp Set and Thin Cut bundle.  This is a fabulous triple layered stamp set that can create gorgeous roses with layers and lots of texture.

These roses can be a little tricky to stamp, so I took a few photos of the process.

The first layer is stamped in the new Color of the Year called Bashful.

The second layer is stamped in Blossom.  The key is to keep the Thin Cut shapes and the stamps all going in the same direction.

The final layer is stamped in Poppy.  I really love the depth that these triple stamps give to the rose images and I can’t wait to experiment with other color combinations to make lots of other roses for lots of other projects!

Please be sure to stop by Heart 2 Heart to see the other design team projects using Haley’s great sketch!  Then link up your projects for everyone to enjoy.

Hello Friends!

This week at Heart 2 Heart we are celebrating FRIENDSHIP!  I created a layout using the amazing Jack paper collection by Close To My Heart.  The Cricut cut is from the Artbooking cartridge.  I used the Marker Alphabet stamp to spell out “friends” and the other embellishments are from the Jack Complements pack.

If you would like to see the other Heart 2 Heart design team projects with a FRIENDSHIP theme, please stop by the blog.  Then link up your own projects and join in the fun!

In Stitches at Heart 2 Heart!

Hello Friends!

The challenge at Heart 2 Heart this week is In Stitches.  Instead of faux stitching or making a layout about being “in stitches”, I decided to take it literally and add some real hand sewing to my project.

I used paper and ribbon from Rustic Home Fundamentals along with Sea Glass cardstock.  The stitching pattern is from the Stitch Guide by Close To My Heart.  I grabbed some old floss and away I went, needle in hand with a vague memory of embroidery from earlier days.  While it’s nowhere near perfect, I think it fits with the shabby chic style of the card!

I added sentiments to make this appropriate for a sympathy card, but it could certainly work for any occasion.  I’m not sure I’ll do a lot of hand stitching in the future since it takes quite a bit of time, but it was fun to try!

Please stop over to Heart 2 Heart and check out the other design team members’ artwork. You will certainly find some great ideas for adding all kinds of stitching to your projects.  Then link them up at H2H for everyone to enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by!  Remember to do something AWESOME today!   Laurie

Featuring No Worries at H2H

Hello Friends!

The Heart 2 Heart Challenge this week is to create a project with the beautiful No Worries paper collection.  It was “love at first sight” for me with this paper!   Not only do I have family living near the beach in Florida, but there is so much non-beachy potential with this paper too!

I decided to make a birthday card for my Florida son who will be celebrating later in July.  I used the Basic Circles Thin Cuts (Z3318) to cut a circle in the front of the card for the Happy Birthday sentiment to peek through.

I used the Swirly Seashells Stamp and Thin Cut set (CC1219) to make the seashells.  I colored them with our watercolor pencils then gave them a layer of shine from our Shimmer Brush.  Sequins and a little burlap ribbon added just the right embellishment.

Here is the card partially open so you can see the circular opening in the front.  Below is another version of the card that I made.  This time I heat embossed the shells with gold embossing powder.  Do you have a favorite?

Please stop by Heart 2 Heart to see the other design team projects using No Worries.  There are some awesome projects there!  Then get out your own No Worries paper and start crafting.  Be sure to share you artwork at H2H for everyone to enjoy!

Emoji Challenge at Heart 2 Heart

Hello Friends!

This week at Heart 2 Heart our theme is EMOJIS!  Close To My Heart has a very cute emoji stamp set that unfortunately I didn’t order, so I decided to use a Cricut emoji cut instead.  Sometimes I have a bit of a wacky sense of humor so this is what I came up with!  Please don’t judge!!

This card has Prickly Pear paper and Lemon, Emerald, Black, Chocolate and Cranberry cardstock.  I used the Artistry cartridge to create the speech balloon and the sentiment banner.  I know just the perfect person to receive this card and I hope he gets a chuckle from all this silliness!

Please stop over to Heart 2 Heart to see the other, probably more traditional (HA!) interpretations of EMOJIS by the design team members.  Then get crafting and create your own emoji project.  We would love to have you share your artwork with us!

Hope your week is off to a fabulous start!  Laurie

It’s a Fiesta at H2H!

Hello Friends!

This week at Heart 2 Heart, we are celebrating FIESTA style and the challenge is to create a project with a fiesta theme.  For my design team project, I created a layout using the new Prickly Pear paper collection and Complements from Close To My Heart.  I added a couple of southwestern cuts from the Fiesta Cricut cartridge.  A sprinkling of Prickly Pear sequins added a bit of sparkle to the bright, beautiful colors in this paper collection.

Be sure to stop by Heart 2 Heart to see the other design team projects with a FIESTA theme.  Then we would love it if you’d play along and share your artwork with us!

Have an awesome day!   Laurie

We’re All About Ribbon at Heart 2 Heart!

Hello Friends!

The challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart is to use RIBBON on a project.  I chose to use the brand new Little Dreamer paper collection for my card.  I think the diagonal rainbow pattern is just perfect as the background.  I used one of the Picture My Life cards for the sentiment panel and stamped the word LOVE from the Hello Lovely Scrapbooking stamp set (retired).  I added layers of Lagoon cardstock and of course, a bow made from Blossom ribbon from the Whimsy collection.

Please stop by Heart 2 Heart and check out the other design team projects.  I can tell you there is some really awesome artwork there!  You are always welcome and encouraged to link up your own projects using RIBBON this week because we love it when you share!

Have an awesome week!   Laurie
