You have probably seen these Twist and Pop cards many times since they have been all over the internet for a few months now. But I haven’t tried to make one until today! I used a Design Space file that Joy Tracey from Obsessed With Scrapbooking shared a while back. This made the scoring and folding so easy! I decorated this card with papers from the Oh Deer paper collection from Close To My Heart.
The picture above shows the front of the card when it is closed. I made a belly band that I decorated with a snowflake Thin Cut and an embossed star from the Oh Deer Complements.
This photo shows the card partially open. You need to see the twisting motion in action to really appreciate the mechanics of this card. It’s really quite impressive, but deceptively easy!
And finally, this photo shows what the card looks like when it is completely open. There are six panels to decorate and embellish. I can think of lots and lots of options for this card design so you will probably see some more of them soon!
Here is the link to Joy Tracey’s video showing you how to assemble these Twist and Pop cards. She also has a link to her Design Space file there. Give these a try–they are lots of fun!!
If you still have Christmas shopping to do, I wish you small crowds, short lines and close-to-the-door parking spaces!! Laurie
I am part of a group of Close To My Heart consultants from across the country who participate in a card swap when a new catalog goes live. One of my up lines, Linda Caler from Maryland, organizes the swap and tackles the huge job of sorting and mailing out the cards. I love getting the cards and seeing all the great ideas from other creative minds! Here is one of the cards that I made for the swap–enjoy!
I made my card with the Swan Lake paper collection and the With You stamp set. This stamp set has several double layer stamps that are so fun to make. Plus there are coordinating Cricut cuts from the Flower Market cartridge and you know what that means–NO FUSSY CUTTING!!
The card has an accordion type fold so it will stand up for display when opened. I love the beautiful Autumn colors of the Swan Lake papers and they go so nicely with the colors in the Enchantment palette.

It’s my birthday today–Hooray! I am hosting the Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge this week and of course, I chose the theme BIRTHDAYS, since everyone should be celebrating ME, right? Or at least the birthday of someone special in your lives!
I chose to make a fancy fold birthday card which is a variation of the traditional box card. I saw this type of card on Lori Whitlock’s website and decided to give my own spin to this design. I used paper and coordinating cardstock from the Zoe collection by Close To My Heart, which is now out of stock. All the cuts were made with the Artistry cartridge, also by Close To My Heart.
Isn’t this a great card design? If you would like to see lots of other birthday themed projects, hop on over to Bitten by the Bug 2. I am hosting the challenge this week and the design team has been busy again! Link up your own birthday projects for everyone to enjoy!
Remember something WONDERFUL is waiting to happen! Laurie
