The challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart is Vines and Twines! I chose to make a Christmas/Winter card using some Glacier Thick Twine to decorate my snowman and the sentiment panel. The Cricut cuts are from You Are Here and Flower Market, both from Close To My Heart. The background paper is from the Beary Christmas paper collection and I used Galcier, Fern, Chocolate and New England Ivy cardstock along with White and Sea Glass glitter paper.
Please stop by Heart 2 Heart to see the other design team projects and then be sure to play along with our Vines and Twines challenge! You also still have time to join in the previous October challenges: Under the Weather, BeYOUtiful, and Mad About Plaid. We love it when you share!!
Have you seen the October Stamp of the Month yet? It is called “Christmas Tunes” and I think it would make an awesome addition to everyone’s holiday stamp collection! I played with this set awhile this morning and I’m still humming some of those Christmas songs! Take a look–
Here are a few cards I made with “Christmas Tunes”, the October Stamp of the Month. I used the two holiday themed paper packs in the Holiday Expressions catalog, Silver and Gold and Beary Christmas to make these cards.
You have probably seen these Twist and Pop cards many times since they have been all over the internet for a few months now. But I haven’t tried to make one until today! I used a Design Space file that Joy Tracey from Obsessed With Scrapbooking shared a while back. This made the scoring and folding so easy! I decorated this card with papers from the Oh Deer paper collection from Close To My Heart.
The picture above shows the front of the card when it is closed. I made a belly band that I decorated with a snowflake Thin Cut and an embossed star from the Oh Deer Complements.
This photo shows the card partially open. You need to see the twisting motion in action to really appreciate the mechanics of this card. It’s really quite impressive, but deceptively easy!
And finally, this photo shows what the card looks like when it is completely open. There are six panels to decorate and embellish. I can think of lots and lots of options for this card design so you will probably see some more of them soon!
Here is the link to Joy Tracey’s video showing you how to assemble these Twist and Pop cards. She also has a link to her Design Space file there. Give these a try–they are lots of fun!!
If you still have Christmas shopping to do, I wish you small crowds, short lines and close-to-the-door parking spaces!! Laurie
This week will be the final Heart 2 Heart Challenge of 2016! The design team will be taking a few weeks off for the holidays, but we will be back first thing in January! This week we were asked to create a project using the beautiful Oh Deer paper pack. I have to say this has been one of the best paper packs to work with! The muted colors and nature themed designs are so appealing to me.
I cut 1.5 inches from the front edge of the card and stamped the pine boughs and cones to make a border that shows when the card is closed. I used several Close To My Heart stamp sets for this card: Perfectly Pine (A1191), Merry and Bright (A1155), Swirling Stars (M1146), Woodland Wishes (D1696) and Very Merry (D1694). The ink colors are Fern, New England Ivy, Desert Sand and Cocoa. Shop HERE to purchase any of these awesome products.
Please stop over to Heart 2 Heart Challenges to see the other Oh Deer projects created by the design team. You are sure to find some great inspiration! Then create your own projects and link them up for everyone to enjoy. We love it when you share!
Have a wonderful week and eat an extra Christmas cookie or two! Laurie
At Bitten by the Bug 2 this week we were asked to create a project with a Christmas ornament cut. Well, I went all out and found one of the most complicated ornament cuts out there. This one comes from Anna’s Winter Wonderland, and boy, are there a lot of layers and tiny pieces!! It makes a beautiful card, but it certainly would not be my choice for mass production!
The background paper is from an old My Mind’s Eye Christmas pack. I used Close To My Heart cardstock to cut my images because I wanted to make sure I had nice, clean cuts on these intricate pieces. I can count on CTMH cardstock every time! This card will be going to someone very special this Christmas!
Check out the Bitten by the Bug 2 blog soon to see what my Design Team sisters have created for you this week. Christmas projects are so fun to make and I’m sure you have one that you can share with all of us. We love to see your artwork!
Thanks for stopping by today and savor every crazy, busy holiday moment!! Laurie
Take a look at Thoughtful Flowers, the December Stamp of the Month! Beautiful flowers and beautiful sentiments make an all around beautiful stamp set!
Here is a Christmas card I made with this Stamp of the Month. I thought one of the flower images resembled a poinsettia, so I stamped three of them in Versa Mark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I then used my watercolor paints to add a bit of color to the images. I layered gold and white shimmer trim over papers from Oh Deer and added a white glitter snowflake and a Christmas sentiment banner.
I especially love the sentiments since they are a bit different than those you usually find on a sympathy card, so I had to make one of those too! I used the gray toned linen paper from the Rustic Fundamentals collection, turning the gold stripe over to silver and adding some silver sequins to the flowers.
And finally, here is a card made by one of the artists at the CTMH Home Office. The flower stamps were used to create the background for the card which really sets off the sentiment on the black banner.
You can get your own Thoughtful Flowers SOTM for only $5.00 when you purchase $50.00 of Close To My Heart products. Or you can purchase the set for the full retail value of $17.95. Shop HERE!!
