I LOVE ice cream! I mean I REALLY love ice cream!! And that fits right in with the challenge this week at Bitten by the Bug 2–Sweet Summer Treats. Ice cream really is the perfect summer treat (even though I do eat it all through the year), so I decided to make a card honoring this favorite of mine!
I used some of the last paper from a summer themed pack from Authentique, another of my favorites. The Cricut cuts are from Sweet Treats (ice cream cones), A Child’s Year (font) and Bits and Pieces (banner). The solid cardstock is Close To My Heart and I did heavy edging with CTMH Chocolate ink. The inside sentiment says “more than ice cream”. Please head on over to Bitten by the Bug 2 to find out what other Sweet Summer Treats are featured in the projects of my design team sisters. You’ll be sure to find something to make your mouth water! Then link up your own artwork for everyone to enjoy–we love it when you share!
Life is short so you should ALL eat ice cream today! I know I will. Laurie
At Bitten by the Bug 2 this week the challenge is Birds of a Feather which means you are challenged to create a project using a Cricut BIRD cut. There are probably hundreds of bird cuts on the many Cricut cartridges, but believe it or not, there are not many peacocks! I found this one on French Manor and I think it is very elegant.
I used paper from my scrap pile for the background and the top layer of the peacock. The bottom layer is glitter paper and the purple cardstock is from Close To My Heart.
Here is a close up of the proud and glittery peacock that sits front and center on my card! I think he is a beauty!
Stop over to Bitten by the Bug 2 and check out the other design team projects using a BIRD cut. After you create your own bird project, please link it up at BBTB2 for everyone to enjoy!
Today I wanted to share an awesome product from Close To My Heart–the Father’s Day Workshop Your Way Cardmaking Kit! This kit includes paper, card bases and envelopes, embellishments and an exclusive stamp set that allows you to make 12 complete cards! These cards are perfect for Father’s Day, but by changing up the sentiments, they would work for birthdays and other events as well. Plus, people always seem to need more masculine themed cards, so you just can’t go wrong with this awesome kit!
Here is one of the card designs from the downloadable workshop guide that you can make with this kit.
And here is a card I made that is based on the above design. My card is the larger A7 size (5×6.5 inches) and I added a shimmer trim border across the top of the banners instead of the twine. I also changed out the sentiment to make this a Father’s Day card, but it could easily be a birthday card too.
One of the best things about this Cardmaking Kit is the exclusive stamp set! If you know anything about me, I tend to use the word “awesome” a lot, so I LOVE this sentiment for the inside of my card! It will be great for many other cards too.
The challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart is to use RIBBON on a project. I chose to use the brand new Little Dreamer paper collection for my card. I think the diagonal rainbow pattern is just perfect as the background. I used one of the Picture My Life cards for the sentiment panel and stamped the word LOVE from the Hello Lovely Scrapbooking stamp set (retired). I added layers of Lagoon cardstock and of course, a bow made from Blossom ribbon from the Whimsy collection.
Please stop by Heart 2 Heart and check out the other design team projects. I can tell you there is some really awesome artwork there! You are always welcome and encouraged to link up your own projects using RIBBON this week because we love it when you share!

The other day I shared a card that had several Thin Cut heart cutouts. The insides of the hearts were just laying around on my craft table. I picked them up this morning and had an idea for another card. The colors fit with the Dreamin’ Big paper collection by Close To My Heart, so I grabbed my adhesives and went to work.
I used the retired Beyond Awesome stamp set for the sentiment, layered a zip strip over some black glitter paper and popped up a few of the hearts and the arrow. I love it when a project comes together so easily–makes me think I actually know what I’m doing!!

Yesterday I shared a couple of cards I made with the “thanks” Thin Cut and today I’d like to show you another fun way to use your Thin Cuts. This time I used strips of Shimmer Trim to make a colorful and dramatic “hello” cut.
I used the whimsical Dreamin’ Big paper collection to make this card. The black mats make the colorful paper stand out even more. Black, Aqua, Gold and Red Shimmer Trim were chosen to coordinate with the colors in the paper.
I adhered layers of Shimmer Trim to a scrap of white cardstock, then positioned the Thin Cut over the strips and ran it through my Cuttlebug. The paper and Shimmer Trim were quite thick, so I had to run it back and forth several times. In the future I will put the Shimmer Trim strips on a piece of thin paper like vellum instead of cardstock.
The resulting cut is quite festive and fit nicely with the bright colors in the Dreamin’ Big paper. I’m sure I will use this technique again very soon!

I so appreciate you stopping by the blog today! Hope your day is AWESOME! Laurie
